Η Αρχιεπισκοπή Καναδά γιορτάζοντας τα 200 χρόνια της Ελληνικής Επανάστασης ιδρύει Μουσείο Ελληνοκαναδικής Κληρονομιάς. Οικονομικά συμβάλλει η Κυβέρνηση του Οντάριο με το ποσό των τριακοσίων είκοσι πέντε χιλιάδων δολαρίων ($325.000).
Την ανακοίνωση έκανε σήμερα 25 Μαρτίου 2021 ο Πρωθυπουργός του Οντάριο Doug Ford με την Υπουργό Κληρονομιάς, Αθλητισμού, Τουρισμού και Πολιτισμού Lisa MacLeod σε διαδικτυακή συνεδρίαση με τον Αρχιεπίσκοπο Σωτήριο, τους βουλευτές της Επαρχιακής Κυβέρνησης, Έφη Τριανταφυλλοπούλου, Χριστίνα Μίτα και Άρη Babikian και τον Άρχοντα, Οστιάριο του Οικουμενικού Πατριαρχείου, Ευάγγελο Σωτηρόπουλο.
Ο Πρωθυπουργός Ford είπε: « «Το Οντάριο φιλοξενεί µια περήφανη και διαρκώς αναπτυσσόµενη ελληνική κοινότητα. Αυτό το Μουσείο θα έχει έναν προορισµό, να γιορτάζεται η ελληνική κληρονοµιά και ο πολιτισµός, εδώ στο Τορόντο. Το πλεονέκτηµα της επαρχίας µας είναι η πολυµορφία µας και η πολιτιστική µας κληρονοµιά, γι’ αυτό είναι τώρα η κατάλληλη στιγµή που κάνουµε αυτή τη σηµαντική ανακοίνωση, για να σηµατοδοτήσουµε τον Μήνα της Ελληνικής Κληρονοµιάς και την 200ή επέτειο της Ελληνικής Ανεξαρτησίας».
Ο Αρχιεπίσκοπος Σωτήριος απαντώντας είπε: «Εκ μέρους των Ελληνικών Κοινοτήτων του Οντάριο και όλου του Καναδά, διαβιβάζω την ειλικρινή μου ευγνωμοσύνη προς τον πρωθυπουργό Ford, την υπουργό κα MacLeod, τον πρώην Υπουργό Οικονομικών κ. Rod Phillips καθώς και τα Μέλη της Βουλής του Ονταριο, Έφη Τριαναταφυλοπούλου, Χριστίνα Μίτα και Άρη Μπαπικιάν, για την υποστήριξη του Μουσείου Ελληνοκαναδικής Κληρονομιάς το οποίο θα συνεχίζει ανά τους αιώνες την ελληνοχριστιανική παράδοση.
Σκοπός του Μουσείου Ελληνοκαναδικής Κληρονομιάς είναι να συγκεντρώσει αντικείμενα ελληνοκαναδικής ιστορικής αξίας. Το έργο θα τελειώσει εντός του 2022.
Η Ιερά Αρχιεπισκοπή πιστεύει ότι αυτός είναι ο καλύτερος τρόπος να αποτίσει φόρο τιμής στους ήρωες της Ελληνικής Επανάστασης, αλλά και στους αρχαίους σοφούς προγόνους μας.
Όλοι μαζί για την κατάκτηση της κορυφής. Όλοι μαζί να συνεχίσουμε την ιστορία των αρχαίων ελλήνων προγόνων μας και των ηρώων της Επανάστασης. Όλοι μαζί ενωμένοι ως καναδοί ελληνικής καταγωγής και χριστιανοί ορθόδοξοι βαθειά θρησκευόμενοι.

Museum of Greek Canadian Heritage in Canada
To Celebrate the 200 anniversary of Greek Revolution, the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Canada and the Government of Ontario announce the planning and development of
a museum of Greek-Canadian Heritage
On the occasion of the 200-year anniversary of the Greek Revolution, the Archdiocese of Canada proudly announces the creation of a museum for Greek-Canadian Heritage. The Government of Ontario will assist financially with the contribution of Three Hundred and Twenty-Five Thousand dollars ($325,000) towards its creation.
Today, March 25, 2021, the Hon. Doug Ford, Premier of Ontario in conjunction with the Minister of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries, the Hon. Lisa MacLeod announced the funding during a teleconference with Archbishop Sotirios, as well as MPPs Effie Triantafilopoulos, Christina Mitas and Aris Babikian and Archon Ostiarios of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, Evagelos Sotiropoulos.
Premier Ford stated: “Ontario supports a thriving and proud Greek community. This museum will have as its goal the celebration of Greek Heritage and culture here in Toronto. Our province benefits from the diversity, culture and heritage offered, therefore now is the right time for us to make this announcement, to highlight Greek Heritage Month and the 200th Anniversary of Greek Independence”.
Archbishop Sotirios remarked, “On behalf of the Greek communities in Ontario and across Canada, I extend my sincere gratitude to Premier Ford, Minister MacLeod, as well as to the former Finance Minister, the Hon. Rod Phillips and MPPs Effie Triantafilopoulos, Christina Mitas and Aris Babikian, for their strong support of the Museum of Greek Canadian Heritage that will preserve and perpetuate the Greek culture and Christian tradition.”
The purpose of the Greek-Canadian Heritage Museum is to collect artifacts of Greek Canadian historical value. The project will be completed in 2022.
Our Holy Archdiocese believes that this is the best way to pay tribute to the heroes of the Greek Revolution, and to our wise ancestors.
Together let us conquer the summit. Together let us perpetuate the history of our ancient Greek ancestors and heroes of the Revolution. Together let us always remain united as Canadians of Greek decent and deeply religious Christian Orthodox.
